Mondays are hard enough to navigate when the weather is optimal, let alone when you’re digging out from a two-day blizzard. And if your situation is anything like mine (school is closed AGAIN?!?) then odds are you’re trapped in your house for at least one more day.

Before the anxiety of “if I have to watch one more episode of Paw Patrol because of this stupid snowstorm” sets in, relax. You can still make major headway on your marketing to-do list even if you’re not in the office. In fact, you may find that you’re more productive without interoffice distractions.

Here’s a list of items you can chip away at whenever you have down time in the office (or, in my case, when your little one goes down for a much needed nap.)

  1.  Write It Out. Blogging is so very important. Aside from introducing keywords to your site, it gives your audience a reason to come back for more compelling content. Write about what you know, what’s going on around you, and what’s coming up in your future.
  2. Say Thank-You. I’m a huge fan of sending hand-written thank you cards to clients, prospects, and mentors. Our schedules are so jam-packed full of obligations, personal and professional…so when someone chooses to set aside time for you, it says a lot. Send them a note and thank them for their time.
  3. Analyze. Have you checked up on your site analytics lately? If not, then you should. Your analytics clue you in on key data including number of visitors, most popular pages, and devices used to log on to your site.
  4. Clean It Up. (Your workspace, that is.) You practically live at your desk. Take some downtime and clean up your empty coffee cups, fast food takeout bags, and empty boxes from Amazon Prime. You’ll make a better impression on your clients and spend less time searching for your favorite Sharpie pen.

Dealing with snow day delays can cause your blood pressure to rise, but just because you’re out of the office doesn’t mean that you’re out of luck. Make the most of your down time and start crossing off tasks that you just can’t seem to find time for during your hectic day. You might even find yourself wishing for another snow day once the craziness of your normal routine sets in.

Now if you’ll excuse me, there’s a Paw Patrol marathon, and a five-year-old, calling my name..
